About Me

Our lives are stories and we all want them to be stories worth telling, stories that give us hope.

Maybe your life or relationship hasn’t ended up where you thought it might. Maybe the future no longer holds the promises for you that it once did. Maybe you long to rewrite the story you are living. Melanie believes everyone has the ability to change their story. Whether you are a couple, a family, or an individual, you can have hope. Melanie desires to walk alongside you in your struggles and help you to forge a new path. Sometimes all it takes is a listening ear; sometimes it takes long, hard work. But you have the choice—to step out in courage and to start writing a new story.

Melanie has been fascinated with people's stories her whole life, graduating from Kenyon College with a degree in History and from Western Michigan University with a master’s in Couple, Marriage, and Family Counseling. Melanie is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor. She specializes in working with relationships and families with young children and has experience in working with anxiety, depression, major life changes, behavioral challenges, grief, affairs, and trauma. She believes in the interaction of mind, body, and spirit, and holistic treatment that addresses all three.

About Luna

I have found that when you are deeply troubled, there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog that you can get from no other source.
- Doris Day

Melanie offers animal-assisted therapy with her Golden Retriever, Luna. Melanie believes in the positive power of dogs to respond to our pain, and to offer their care and comfort. Dogs can provide support and affection to help carry us through dark and lonely times. They can also help reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and give of themselves unconditionally. Luna has passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation and would love to meet you.
