What is hiraeth?
Hiraeth is a Welsh word with no direct English translation. It refers to the longing one feels when they are away from their homeland.
In counseling terms, I believe we all feel hiraeth when we are not at home with ourselves, or at home in our relationships. Hiraeth Counseling exists to meet you in that longing, in that ache, and, together, to help you find your way back home.
Why hiraeth?
I was fortunate enough to study abroad in Wales and a piece of my heart has remained there since. I love the wild, scrubby beauty of the land and the warm, friendly embrace of its people.
Hiraeth spoke to the deep longing and ache that I feel and that I have seen in everyone.
